How we operate

Global solutions pioneered in South Africa

HENSOLDT South Africa operates across five sites in South Africa, catering to the world market. We are organised in three business units, specialising in different portfolio areas of defence and security electronics. The HENSOLDT Group is headquartered in Taufkirchen near Munich, in Germany.

BUSINESS UNITS

GEW

The GEW business unit specialises in electronic warfare, spectrum management and security solutions in HENSOLDT’s comprehensive defence electronics portfolio, with a prominent focus on land-based signal intelligence solutions for the military market.

With a strong heritage of more than 50 years and equipment operational in more than 30 countries, GEW has earned the trust and respect of the intelligence community worldwide.

Optronics is renowned for its capabilities in optical and mechanical design and manufacture. In addition to lens design cutting, polishing and coating, system engineering, electronics and software development, we also undertake prototyping, modelling and testing, qualification and product support.

Our latest technology developments are integrated in the most advanced fighter aircraft platforms in the world, most notably the Eurofighter-Typhoon and the JAS-39 Gripen.

BUSINESS UNITS

Radar

The Radar business unit specialises in radar, Identification friend or foe (IFF) and datalinks, as well as Air traffic management (ATM) and radar services. The business was launched in January 2021 after HENSOLDT South Africa acquired the Air Traffic Management (ATM) and Defence & Security business units of Tellumat at the end of 2020.

Building on this legacy, the Radar business unit solves problems in a way that combines more than 50 years of technological innovation and expertise with new ways of doing business.
